Titanic. With 11 wins, only two other films have earned as many Oscars: Ben-Hur and Return of the King (LOTR). I admit that I was drawn to film by all of the hype that surrounded it when it was released in '97. It doesn't hold up to repeated viewings. It's sappy and cliche (scrappy poor kid wins the heart of stuck-up rich girl and family disapproves but love triumphs). The CGI distracts from the story when it should enhance it. My final critique can be summed up in two words: Celine Dion. Runner-up for most overrated film: Shrek.
